Orange Pekoe

The Name
When I first came across the tea name, I somehow memorized it as Orange Peacock instead...it took me awhile to have it corrected in my mind, but it still comes up floating around in my mind whenever I see the name. (totally irrelevant from the main purpose of this post lol)

The Tea
I hated it.
It seems to be quite a popular or at least common tea but I just somehow dislike the taste. When I received a packet of Orange Pekoe from Mel as a present, I kept it aside until I finally gave courage to try it (just cause it's from Mel) and after triumphantly brewing the hot tea in my favorite thermo glass tea cup...I couldn't stand the flavor after 2 or 3 sips and poured it down the drain...(I'm really sorry Mel OTZ in the end I brought it to school and put it into the class tea and coffee station in our classroom)

A long forgotten memory came to me, one of my exs used to brew Orange Pekoe whenever I came over. Especially when I stayed for dinner, I would most likely always be given a cup of Orange Pekoe afterwards. (since I'm a cup of tea after dinner person.) And I also remembered, how I would have the tea as soon as possible so the flavor is still not sunk in the hot waters (like a minute right after she put in the tea leaves). Then this thought came to me as I was pouring the tea down the drain, the Orange Pekoe she had was almost like her, not my cup of tea.

I sometimes find this disliking a weird thing, because my favorite tea is Earl Grey, and something so similar, Orange Pekoe, I dislike, makes me wonder if it's a mental thing. It's just like how I love Garlic chives and hate parsley, my mom would always remind me how weird that was, although to me, it seemed like a reasonable thing because the taste of the two herbs were quite distinctive to me.

Anyhow, just another small babble.

  1. For me, no matter what, I always end up adding sugar and maple syrup (whenever I happen to have it that is... xD) in my tea. Unless it's Po Lei (Is that what it's called in English??? I'm not sure orz) Though I haven't had Orange Pekoe for a while since I tried Earl Grey lol

but mostly when I'm having the Royal blend I bought from UK
    so Canada, maple syrup lol

I think it's Po Lei, if not, I still understand you anyways XD I wouldn't add milk, sugar or any honey to Chinese teas...they'll probably taste funky haha

Orange Pekoe is quite a common tea, but no thanks for me XD

  3. Milk doesn't agree with my stomach so I tend to not use milk unless I'm baking or something lol. Honey tastes good with tea~~ I liked putting maple in my tea before I even thought of cosplaying as him xDD

Chinese tea tastes fine the way it is, though I haven't really had anything other than Po Lei and I don't like the smell Jasmine tea gives off.

Yeah, I really liked Earl Grey, it smells really nice~ My mom got me another box of Earl Grey the other day and I was like OMG 8DD
